Eucalyptus Tree

The eucalyptus tree grows only in Australia and it’s the staple of the Koala bear diet. Eucalyptus tree is a kind of gum tree of botany and there are six main groups of eucalyptus with different barks.

We know that the Australia have impoverish soils and dry seasons offer little support for green life. However, only the eucalyptus tree flourishes, because it is uniquely able to utilize the nutrients release by fire and then to store those nutrients for later use. The eucalyptus tree has thick bark to resist damage from fire. It’s so resilient against fire, if branches are burn-off then new once will emerge. Of course, the bole is damage by fire and a new trunk will grow.

The eucalyptus tree managed to maintain foothold in Australia by persevering through droughts and the consistent dry seasons. The prevalence of the eucalyptus tree can best be described as an opportunist. It adapt to environment that is available due to the poor condition of the soil and the climate.
